A real-life Grinch stole a single mom’s Christmas away from her and her daughter. And though he fled like a thief in the night, he didn’t ruin the holiday for the family.
Not when Good Samaritans — true heroes — stepped up.
Twenty-seven-year-old Amanda Larue was at work, and her 8-year-old daughter, Makayla, was in school when their home was invaded. A stranger broke in and proceeded to do what can only be described as something truly grinch-like.
He began to take all the presents laid beneath Amanda’s Christmas tree.
He even had dog treats at the ready to feed — and distract — the family’s suspicious German shepherd.
“That tells you he had it planned out,” said Police Commissioner of Warren, Michigan, Bill Dwyer.
It was the third time Amanda’s house has been broken into. When she saw her security footage, she was devastated.
“I literally was just shaking and [feeling] violated,” she said, trying to fight back tears.
The man even took the family’s TV.
But when she informed the authorities about what had happened, they knew they couldn’t just let that grinch get away with it.
“These officers weren’t asked to do this. They came forward and said, ‘Hey, we wanna help this lady out,’” said Commissioner Dwyer.
